We are very proud to have Rwanda Gasharu returning regularly to our offerings.
Gasharu is a family-run farm and processing station that has been growing and processing the finest Rwandan coffee here for over 40 years, supporting local farming communities.
Much of the funds raised are invested in the community, such as cattle purchases and social development programs. The Gasharu processing station and water mill is located on the shores of Lake Kivu, just a short drive from Nyungwe National Park, one of the largest and best preserved montane rainforests in Central Africa, home to a huge biodiversity and an estimated 25% of Africa’s primates.
The altitude, soil and climate in this area are exactly what coffee trees love most.
As a result, the coffee farms around Gashar get plenty of rainfall, making the cherries juicier and the coffee fruitier.
You’ll feel the full body of black tea in this washed rendition of this bean, the flavour is rounded out by the sweet fruitiness of the cherries along with lovely orange notes.
